Environmental Practitioner Consultant 

AACE has a number of excellent opportunities for qualified and experienced environmental specialists to join our safety and environmental team.  Applicants will ideally have worked in the military or supporting defence organisations and had exposure to providing environmental protection contributions into defence.

You will be working within an experienced team of subject matter experts (SMEs) providing environmental protection advice, guidance and leadership in a range of air, sea and land projects and programmes.  You will need to be conversant with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) as well as possess excellent written, and oral, English skills.

Tasks may include the development, management and delivery of environmental and sustainability projects, development of environmental impact assessments, integration of environmental protection work with safety engineering. There is the potential for suitably experienced candidates to be involved with both support to bids and proposal writing, as well as support to recruitment and business development.  Role characteristics include the desire to provide high quality support and outputs to meet client requirements, and a pro-active, flexible and constructive approach.

 

Key skills and experience

  • Qualification in the Environmental or Sustainability fields (e.g. Practitioner IEMA, MSc Environmental Science, Diploma Sustainability Management);
  • Experience in successfully delivering environmental management and/or sustainability support to defence and / or supporting organisations;
  • Good working knowledge of the defence Project Oriented Environmental Management System (POEMS) processes; and
  • Good working knowledge of ISO14000 series (Environmental Management);
  • Competent with the full MS Office 365 suite of applications;
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these confidently at all levels; and
  • Ability to hold SC security clearance.
  • Training in:

.      Assessment and management of Environmental Impact(s) for UK MOD.       .                  programmes;

.      Environmental Aspect, Environmental Impact Priority development/justification;

.      and

.      Environmental Working Group (EWG) experience.

  • An understanding of Environmental Legislation / Regulation, and the impact of REACH and RoHS on Defence product safety engineering;
  • Membership of a related institute or institution such as Practitioner of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
