Our Air Safety Services

AACE is a leading provider of Air Safety consultancy services to the UK MOD and Industry clients with expertise spanning Type and Continuing Airworthiness, Regulatory and Legislation compliance and safety and environmental management.

We provide support across the entire project lifecycle on a wide range of aviation platforms, including expertise in UAS,  Air-Launched Weapon integration, Air Traffic Management and Ship Air Integration.

Whilst our expertise is primarily Defence focussed, we can use our decades of proven experience in Air Safety to support Industry projects in developing and managing a robust Safety Management System (SMS) and producing compliant safety documentation.  

Our SMEs have backgrounds that are deeply rooted in Continuing and Type airworthiness experience.  We can provide expert support in these areas, whether that’s support to the Type Airworthiness Authority,  Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation or Industry equivalents.

Authoring of safety documentation that is comprehensive, proportionate and compliant with appropriate standards (e.g. DefStan 00-056).

Support in the recovery, development or management of an SMS throughout the project lifecycle, focussing on the four pillars: safety policy and objectives, safety risk management, safety assurance and safety promotion.  

We use our decades of safety and environmental experience to conduct independent audits, providing necessary assurance that safety and environmental process and practice is being followed.   

We use our proven experience to provide support in complex areas, such as Air Launched Weapons, Ship Air Integration, UAS Specific Operations Risk Assessments (SORA) and Air Traffic Management.  

We have a deep understanding of MAA/ Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Regulation and MOD Safety Policy, allowing us to work with you to ensure your project remains compliant.

Fast Jet Support Requirements Validation

 

AACE validated support system requirements for a fast jet procurement under the FMS framework, ensuring UK-specific compliance.

Our analysis and toolsets aligned the US solution to MOD policy, enabling successful verification and a confident submission of the programme’s full business case.

Chinook Mission Support Contract

 

AACE supported the setup and management of a mission-critical avionics support contract for a heavy-lift helicopter platform.

Through continuous stakeholder liaison and ILS compliance, we enabled smooth service entry and maintained support over multiple contract iterations with high user satisfaction.

Human Factors Incident Investigation

 

AACE conducted a comprehensive Human Factors investigation into an air safety incident, using HFACS methodology to uncover root causes.

Our independent report informed DASOR closure and led to improved communication processes, receiving strong endorsement from both prime and subcontractor leadership.

Airworthiness Audit for Civil Contractor

 

We enabled a civil contractor to achieve MRP 145 approval for military aviation maintenance through structured audits, training, and documentation support.

AACE’s compliance-driven approach resulted in successful approval and regular refresher tasking to sustain airworthiness standards.

AS9100 Support

 

AACE supported five SMEs with AS9100 QMS development under limited funding.

Despite minimal prior quality frameworks, our consultants provided structured guidance and clause-by-clause support, helping each company build understanding and progress toward aerospace certification readiness.

MRP 145 Compliance and Training

 

We helped a logistics provider achieve MRP 145 compliance and delivered training to over 900 personnel across two MOD sites.

Our phased approach addressed airworthiness understanding across maintenance and warehousing, with follow-on training extended to transport roles.

MRCO Ageing Aircraft Audit

 

We developed a bespoke Ageing Aircraft Audit for a helicopter fleet operating under civil-military regulations.

AACE’s scoping, documentation, and survey approach ensured a compliant audit tailored to MRCO requirements, extending airworthiness and operational confidence.

Helicopter Situational Awareness System Safety

 

AACE delivered safety assurance for a situational awareness system integrated onto a heavy-lift helicopter.

By producing safety assessments and RTS documentation, we enabled compliant in-service use and supported BLOS comms and collaborative planning within platform airworthiness frameworks.

Fixed Wing Safety Management

 

Embedded in the MOD Delivery Team, AACE managed the Equipment Contribution to Risk to Life (ECtRtL) across dual operational requirements for multiple fixed wing platforms.

We developed Equipment Contribution Logs (ECLs) and managed airworthiness assessments, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational safety.

Independent Safety Auditor

 

AACE’s ISA services for a high profile equipment replacement programme validated safety compliance with MAA and DEF STAN standards.

This project underlined AACE’s expertise in independent safety auditing, ensuring MOD platforms achieve rigorous safety and operational standards.
