Safety and Airworthiness

A core competency of AACE is its Safety Management and Airworthiness expertise. Management and updating of safety cases is a complex task requiring considerable experience and meticulous attention to detail. These are skills that AACE personnel have in abundance, having been involved in safety management in all its aspects for many years.

AACE has safety critical systems experience across a broad range of domains including military and civilian aerospace, software, UAV and rail, which gives the ability to draw upon lessons learned from these areas too.

AACE has experience with the MOD Project Orientated Safety Management System (POSMS) and Project Orientated Environmental Management System (POEMS) used to guide the PTs. Additional safety standards that AACE personnel are competent with include JSP 550 series, Def Stan 00-56, and civilian standards that can be used for safety critical systems such as DO-178B and DO-254.

AACE are competent with the tools and techniques used to meet the goals of the safety standards and guidance followed by the MOD, in particular AACE personnel have experience with the MOD preferred tools: Adelard ASCE and CASSANDRA.

Key AACE safety personnel contribute to the production of official guidance on Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) and the production of official MOD guidance on tools and techniques that could be used to enable compliance with Def Stan 00-56. Further, they present regular safety training courses.
