Configuration Management

AACE was contracted to provide support to the Merlin IPT to review, document and enhance Merlin configuration control procedures. In order to achieve this a detailed investigation was conducted into the complex configuration procedures and change methods that had been used throughout the Merlin design, development and build process, quite literally starting at the aircraft design inception and working forward.

Another team had been gathering modification data, and AACE successfully used this data to conceive a Merlin Configuration Recovery plan that is currently being enacted. In order to maintain configuration in the future it was also necessary to produce a configuration control manual. AACE developed and delivered this document using its vast military experience. Traditionally configuration control manuals have been difficult to read and have generally sat on the shelf. AACE have produced a manual that is designed for everyone with a connection to Merlin configuration management. It is easily readable and explains in simple language configuration management processes and procedures that if followed form the good practice basis for maintaining configuration control over a complex aircraft. All methods of changing the configuration are covered and guidance and procedures are documented. Complex terms are simply explained and references are used to enable the person with a requirement for a more in-depth understanding to access the source documentation.

AACE have been contracted to manage the recovery of Merlin CM giving consultancy advice to the customer and working with other contractors to address longstanding configuration issues.
