INTEGRATION - THE KEY TO SUCCESS

ITEA

An important part of the acquisition cycle is the management of the acceptance process. All too often attention centres on getting the equipment in service without due regard being paid to the other Defence Lines Of Development (DLOD) which are equally as important in the successful delivery of military capability.

A well structured and managed Integrated Test Evaluation and Acceptance (ITEA) process will go a long way to assuring that a fully effective military capability is delivered at the assigned In Service Date (ISD), saving money and time as well as reducing risk.

AACE has an in-depth understanding of ITEA processes and the practical view to the implementation of these processes on ‘real world’ projects where the realities of time and cost pressures often mean that efforts have to be focussed in order to achieve the greatest output.

AACE was selected by the Harrier IPT to manage the ITEA process for the introduction of the Harrier GR9 from the inception of the programme right through to the acceptance of the capability by the MoD central staffs. It is believed this is the only major programme that has achieved ISD that has been managed using the ITEA philosophy. Although a team effort by all stakeholders it has been recognised that ITEA played it’s part in this successful programme and it is one for which AACE is justifiably proud to have been the driving force behind the ITEA management.

A correctly constructed and managed ITEA programme will undoubtedly contribute to controlling cost and time overruns and is therefore a very cost effective measure for the acquisition of military capability. AACE, through integration of aircrew and engineering experience and knowledge, can offer any degree of support to an ITEA from the simple drafting of an ITEA plan through to the support and management of all the ITEA related activities including stakeholder liaison right the way through to the systems use on the front line.

In addition to the major Harrier GR9 ITEA programme AACE has been involved in a number of other ITEA programmes including:
  • Paveway IV Precision Guided Bomb (PGB)
    Paveway
  • TIALD
    TIALD
  • Ship Approach Recovery Aid (SARA)
    SARA
